Photo and Video Recovery for Android. What we access, why we access it, and how your data stays on your device.

Photo and Video Recovery Android app com.recovery.deletedpicturesandvideos Last updated: July 4, 2026

01Introduction

Photo and Video Recovery ("the App") is an Android app that helps you find and recover deleted and leftover files on your device, including photos, videos, audio, and documents. It also includes a File Vault, a Junk Cleaner, a Contacts Backup tool, and a Recycle Bin.

This policy explains what the App accesses on your device, why it needs that access, and how your data is handled. The short version: your files, vault data, and contacts are processed on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.

We do not upload, transmit, or store your files, media, or contacts on any server. Everything the App does with your content happens locally on your device.

02No Account, No Data Collected by Us

The App does not require you to create an account or sign in. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not collect or store the contents of your files, media, or contacts. The App does use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to collect app usage and crash diagnostic data, and Google AdMob for advertising in the free version. These are described in the Third-Party Services and Advertising sections below and operate under Google's own policies.

03Permissions We Use and Why

The App requests only the permissions it needs to perform its features. Each is explained below.

  • All-Files Access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): deleted and leftover files, and their fragments, can exist anywhere in device storage. The App needs broad storage access to scan across folders and find recoverable files and junk to clean. This scanning runs on your device.
  • Media access (photos, videos, audio): used to read and display recoverable photos, videos, and audio so you can preview and restore them. On newer Android versions this uses the granular media permissions; on older versions it uses storage access.
  • Contacts, read: used only by the Contacts Backup feature to list your contacts and save a backup file (.vcf) on your device.
  • Contacts, write: used only when you choose to restore contacts from a backup file back into your device.

The App does not request or use camera, microphone, or location permissions. You can review or revoke any permission at any time in your Android device settings. If you revoke a permission, the related feature will stop working.

04How Your Data Is Used

The App uses the access above only to provide its features:

  • Find, preview, and restore recoverable and leftover files (photos, videos, audio, documents)
  • Identify and remove junk files so you can free up space (Junk Cleaner)
  • Encrypt and store files that you choose to move into the File Vault
  • Hold items you delete inside the App in the Recycle Bin until you restore or permanently delete them
  • Back up your contacts to a file on your device, and restore them when you choose to

We do not use your files, media, or contacts for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than the feature you are using.

05On-Device Processing and No Uploads

All file scanning, recovery, vault encryption, junk analysis, and contacts backup happen locally on your device. The App does not upload, transmit, or store your files, media, or contacts on any server, and there is no cloud backup of your content.

Backup files (.vcf) and File Vault data remain on your device. They only leave your device if you choose to share or export them yourself, for example by sending a backup file to another app or location. Recovered files are saved to your own device storage.

06Advertising and Consent Choices

The free version of the App shows advertisements through Google AdMob. To serve ads, the Google AdMob SDK may collect and process certain data, which may include:

  • Device advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID)
  • IP address and approximate location
  • App usage and ad interaction data (views, clicks)

This data is collected and processed by Google LLC under Google's Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy. Your files, media, and contacts are never shared with AdMob or any advertising network.

Your consent and ad choices

  • Where consent is required (for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), the App shows a consent request using Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) when you first launch it.
  • You can choose between personalized and non-personalized ads, and you can change your choice at any time from the App's Settings.
  • You can also reset or delete your Advertising ID and limit ad personalization in your Android device settings.

If you prefer not to see ads at all, the App offers a paid "Remove Ads" option, described in the next section.

07Purchases (Remove Ads)

The App offers a paid "Remove Ads" purchase. All payments are handled by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Google processes your purchase under the Google Play Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy. If you reinstall or switch devices with the same Google account, you can restore the purchase.

08Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following Google services:

  • Google Firebase Analytics for understanding app usage and feature engagement.
  • Google Firebase Crashlytics for crash and stability diagnostics.
  • Google AdMob for advertising in the free version.
  • Google Play Billing for the paid Remove Ads purchase.

These services operate under Google's Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy. We do not use cloud storage or social media SDKs, and we do not share the contents of your files, media, or contacts with any third party.

Analytics and crash reporting

We use Google Firebase Analytics and Google Firebase Crashlytics to collect app usage data and crash and diagnostic information so we can understand how features are used, improve the App, and fix stability problems. This data may include in-app interactions and events, device and operating system information, App version, and a resettable identifier. It is collected and processed by Google under Google's Privacy Policy and the Firebase data disclosure: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

This is aggregate usage and diagnostic data about how the App performs. It does not include the contents of your files, media, or contacts. Your actual files, media, and contacts are still processed on your device and are never uploaded to any server. Analytics is about App usage, not your content. Where consent is required, you can manage your choices as described in the Advertising and Consent Choices section, and you can reset the underlying advertising identifier in your Android device settings.

09Data Security

Files you move into the File Vault are encrypted on your device using AES-256, and the vault can be locked with a PIN or biometric unlock. Because your content stays on your device and is not sent to any server, it is not exposed to server-side breaches. No method of storage is completely secure, so we encourage you to keep your device protected with a screen lock and to keep your own copies of important files.

10Data Retention and Deletion

Because your files, vault data, and contact backups are stored on your device, you control retention:

  • Uninstalling the App removes the App and its private data from your device. Files you recovered or exported into your own folders, and backup files you saved, remain where you saved them until you delete them.
  • Recycle Bin: items you delete inside the App stay in the Recycle Bin until you restore them, permanently delete them, or empty the bin.
  • File Vault: files stay in the vault until you remove them or uninstall the App.

11Children's Privacy

The App is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and have questions, please contact us at the email below.

12Your Rights and Choices

  • Ad choices: change personalized or non-personalized ads in the App's Settings, and reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android Settings → Google → Ads.
  • Permissions: grant or revoke storage and contacts access at any time in your Android device settings.
  • Your content: since data is stored on your device, you can move, export, or delete it yourself at any time.
  • Remove data: uninstall the App to remove its private data from your device.

13Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page and, where relevant, in app updates. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised when changes are made. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
